Welcome to Studio 1906.
A sewing studio for everyone.

Studio 1906 is a sewing studio operating out of Venue 1906, in downtown Belleville, Ontario, by owner, Jeanette.
With a relaxed, laid-back approach to teaching, the first goal of Studio 1906 is to help people find joy in the process of creation.
The second goal: to build community and connection over a shared interest.
Learn to Sew
Never touched a sewing machine before? Or maybe it’s been years and you’ve forgotten everything? Excited to dive right in and learn all there is to learn about your machine, sewing tools, fabric, stitches and notions? My basic 4 week Learn To Sew class is for you! In this class, we’ll work our way through 2-3 small projects that will set you up to tackle even more intricate projects.
$180/session for 6 weeks of classes
Materials provided. If you need the use of a sewing machine, one can be rented for $5/class.
See calendar below for class schedule.
Intro to Machine Sewing
Have a new machine and don’t really know how to use it, but not ready to commit to a full, four week program? Not a problem! Bring me your machine and let me help you learn the ins and outs to help you get started. We’ll finish a small project during this class, so you’ll also get a few tips and pointers to help you work through your first bigger projects.
$35/class
Sewing machine not provided, as it’s best to learn on your own machine.

Kids Sew
Yup, kids can sew too! This is my Learn to Sew class adapted for kids ages 8-12. In this class, we’ll work our way through 2-3 small projects that will set you up to tackle even more intricate projects, and learn the ins and outs of machine sewing, fabric, and sewing tools along the way.
$140/class for 4 weeks of classes
Materials provided. If you need use of a sewing machine, one can be rented for $5/class.

Sew-along
So, you’ve taken a Learn-To-Sew class, or you’ve been sewing a while, but are stuck on tote bags and pillow cases and you’re ready to level-up to garment sewing. Join us for a sew-along! Each sew-along program will focus on sewing one garment from start to finish, with plenty of sewing techniques learned along the way.
January’s Sew-along? Simple but versatile button-down shirts!
$160/session for 4 weeks of classes.
2-3 yards of fabric, 1 yard of interfacing, a handful of buttons, and a copy of this pattern is required. Kits can be purchased for $25.
See calendar below for class schedule.
Social Sewing
One of my biggest hopes for Studio 1906 is that, from it, will grow a community of creative, crafty sewists. Sewing doesn’t have to be done in isolation! Bring your machine, bring a project you’re working on, meet other sewing enthusiasts, and get help on anything you may be stuck on.
I will be on hand in the role of teacher, available to help you work through anything you may be finding challenging and teaching you new techniques.
These sessions are pay-what-you-can, so everyone can enjoy being part of a sewing community.
